Disney’s Newest “Luxury” Resort Is Not Worth The Price

Often marketed as Walt Disney World's most luxurious hotel ever built, Disney's Riviera Resort has been a polarizing resort for a lot of people including myself. All the cruise ships are lacking anything that would be considered quality food. I personally think that they are no long worth the money. Kind of like Disney. FEED THE MOUSE. Not worth the money. Carnivals Guy's burgers might be worth far more than like Viking speciality restaurants. Just not not worth the extra price. Of course I have yet to try Virgin cruises and the Queen mary 2. They are my last hope for good food.

    A strange review. Speaks like a cruise expert but doesn't seem to have the faintest idea of who the usual demographic is. Disney sounds like a much better fit on so many levels.

    a visit to the disney parks isn't something for lower income people. it's meant for the rich upper middle class families who think that obsessing over the disney brand is a replacement for having a personality. that's why it's so expensive cause they don't want us poors anywhere near it.

    Ok, after that outrageous amount of cost let me give you a laugh. I'm 68 and grew up in Southern California. My family of four usually went twice a year to Disneyland. I can remember when I was about eight walking to our car at the end of the day, and hearing my dad say, "Mary-Jo (my mom), can you believe we spent $40 today???" That included a full day at the park, meals, and charcoal pictures of my brother and me. Walt still owned and RAN the park, and held to the promise of making it a place for the whole family. I'm sure he is spinning in his grave. I've visited all the parks in California and Florida during my lifetime. Disneyland will always hold my heart, but Disney is no longer Walt's dream. Six years ago I stood by the flagpole on Main Street at Disneyland and said goodbye. I have wonderful memories and they will have to do. I write this with tears in my eyes. Thanks Walt, for some of the best times of my life.😪

    First off, Jake I’m loving the travel vids. Secondly I totally agree that this cruise line has some major disappointing features especially considering that it’s parent company Norwegian has some completely opposite features on their ships i.e. Norwegian offers freestyle dinning so you always have the option to eat at any time of the day. Although the ship design is beautiful, this sector is definitely to cater toward the elderly cruise demographic.

    Recently traveled to South America cruise on Oceania’s Marina and while the cruise experience was good (so much gourmet food!) and the ship itself ok, their customer service left a lot to be desired. Oceania provides complimentary air travel to a from the port, unfortunately they booked us to fly with a very small window between connecting flights (JFK to MIA to LIM). Air travel being what it is, we missed the connecting flight to the port city, (Delta mechanical issue) WE had to buy our own tickets to Lima where the ship was docked otherwise we were never making it there on time. Of course, Oceania washed their hands and would not reimburse us for the air fare which we felt they absolutely should have.

    I went there as a teenager and had a blast. I wouldn't go back now due to the insane prices, large crowds, and long waits to get on the rides that are actually open. I also heard many of the rides still aren't open due to not having enough staff. There are thousands of other places in the US and abroad to enjoy for much less than Disney. Alot of people just need to get it out of their system to say they went to Disney regardless of the negative reviews and costs.

    To say “at par with Celebrity” is accurate- Oceania is in the same cruise class. It is not in line with Seabourn, Silversea, etc. Oceania is a great value really. It would have been helpful to hear what you paid because I’m always seeing great deals on the line.

    • @BrightSunTravels
      @BrightSunTravels 15 часов назад

      I give a full price breakdown at the end of this video and Oceania is not at the same level as Celebrity. It’s a market class above and is priced much higher.

  • @Remianen
    @Remianen 20 часов назад

    I say the same thing about Oceania that I said about Holland America 20 years ago: their target demographic is going to do them in. BUT their parent company doesn't want them infringing on their customer base, so they're stuck in a kind of cruise market fugue state. Vista and her sister (bars!) will be the last ships purpose built for Oceania because of lack of demand. Hopefully, we'll someday get to a point where people leasing/buying old ships and trying to call themselves 'the best value at sea' while just being burning dumpster trash (yeah, I'm talking about you Margaritaville) or charging premium pricing for Red Robin quality food ends. As Jake alluded to, I can't sell Oceania to even my elderly clients because there are far better options available. Heck, booking them in The Haven on Oceania's parent line would provide a far better experience (and most of my elder clients prefer smaller, if not outright river, vessels).

    If you think thats bad, imagine what its like for us travelling from the UK and having to add transatlantic flights on top of that. I was fortunate enough to be able to take my kids to Florida twice in the early 2000s, the parks were quiet, the food was cheap, we walked on to every ride without all that genie nonsense. It was wonderful. The experience now looks horrific. We dont even consider a Disney trip anymore and neither does any of my other family members who used to go every two or three years. We prefer to spend our money on a cruise, or city breaks or even all inclusive resorts for a lot less money and without feeling like you are being ripped off evry day. Eurodisney is no better. Last time we went a very small almost aircraft sized beer or wine at dinner was 14 euros and someone definitely needs to tell the French staff that its meant to be the happiest place on earth, cos the service is terrible. In fact by day four i couldnt wait to leave. I feel sorry for those that will never get to experience a Disney park as Walt intended.

    My family and I have made many visits to WDW over the years and it remains our favorite vacation destination. However, the extreme price increases have drastically changed our visits. Previously we visited yearly for 6-7 days with Park Hopper Plus tickets. We visited the theme parks, water parks and scheduled character meals. Now, we get 2 day Park Hopper Passes and stay from rope drop to close. I order a grocery delivery to our room and if we eat in a restaurant, it's a quick service meal. Every time we visit, the parks are full, so Disney has no reason to reduce the cost.

      If you ever decide to check it out, hit me up. I was a concierge for the Hershey Lodge & Convention Center back when it was still the Hershey Motor Lodge. A lot of attractions have come and gone, but they've been making an effort to restore the quality of the food. Once upon a time the Hotel Hershey employed chefs from all over the world, and then around 2000 they switched over to a Refined Cafeteria Food model to much annoyance and many complaints. TMK they've gotten better about that, tho it's still far from the fancy-schmancy largely French-based cuisine of the 80s and 90s. Also don't bother with the desserts at Chocolate World. The recipes have changed since I worked there in '97 and unless you have a burning desire to eat bland, dry, salty cookies covered in 9lbs of Crisco-based frosting, I cannot recommend them. I know youguys focus on franchise properties, but really the best food is to be found at local restaurants. The Warwick, Rubber Soul, and Troeg's all rank highly among the non-HERCO restaurants.
